Under the direction of the Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board, KC College was founded in 1954.
The college has received three consecutive NAAC reaccreditations with an A rating, and the University of Mumbai named it the Best College (Urban Area) in 2015. In 2019, the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, granted the college Star College Status and the Star Scheme.
Additionally, the college is supported by the prestigious FIST programme offered by the Indian government’s DST (Department of Science and Technology).

The Indian missionary Rev. John Wilson established the Wilson College in 1832. When it first opened as Ambroli English School in Girgaum, Mumbai, it then underwent a number of name and location changes before becoming known as the Wilson School. In 1836, the collegiate section—from which Wilson College developed—was created.

Associated with the University of Mumbai since its founding in 1940 is Sophia College (independent). Voc. TT) and Software Development, were introduced by the college after 2000 to help students find employment after graduation (B. Voc. SD).

History clearly shows that classrooms quickly became full. The College was founded on ideals and is situated on 123 Dinshaw Wachha Road, at the intersection of the road that faces the University of Mumbai with its majestic clock tower.
The principal of Seth Hassaram Rijhumal is H.C. Malkani. Principals Jyotu Kundnani, K.M. Kundnani, and H.C. Malkani Despite the fact that another commerce college was begun in Karachi the same year as the Hyderabad Sind campus of what is now known as the Hassaram Rijhumal College of Commerce & Economics, the young institution had to be swiftly abandoned in the tempest of Partition.
